Good Day Gone Bad In East Hampton

The day started off pretty good,we got up early and did Hum a Tune,Friendly Skies just missed Butterfly and Blue Bird at the Salmon River State Forest box. Then we did Marlborough Old Methodist Church and the Marlborough Congregational Church, then to East Hampton. We spent almost 3 hours looking for Rapallo Viaduct Letterbox. The birdhouse with the 1 1/2 on it is missing,we went up and down the airline all the way down to the second Viaduct, and we found a birdhouse with a 2 on it but no 1 1/2.So we came back to the first Viaduct and tried every trail between it and the cement thing with the pipes sticking out,but no luck,we went about 100 yards down this one trail that we were sure was the right trail but no still no luck. Then we went to the Covered Bridge & Verdi,we got to the first box and their was no stamp, just the log book.We noticed that Butterfly had the same trouble with it in November,6 months ago.Idea, we should have a page in LBNA where if a letterboxer has trouble with a box they can post it,and it stays their. So the people who plant boxes can check in from time to time and if they see a problem with one of their boxes they can go out and try to correct it so people don't travel half way across the State for nothing.Almost like the clue list for troubled boxes so the owner of the box can replace things that are missing or adjust the clues if people are having a little problem with it.And once your box is fixed,it can be taken off the troubled list,so others no it's good to go.Just an idea.Lenny/Kathy

I had the same problem with this one. Forget looking for a path,
simply head back over the Viaduct towards East Hampton and look for
the green pipe along the Airline trail.

When Bluebird and I found the Covered Bridge stamp missing back in snow
and ice days, I reported that the stamp was gone. It was a sad day for
us as the trail was solid ice and then no stamp. Sad.

BTW.... I do check all of my boxes at least three times a year, unless I hear
a good report online for a particular box.
